Grace in the Slowing Down
Dear Friends,
What a month of celebration this has been! We recognized America’s 250th anniversary with special musical guests, we’ve had great voices in the pulpit throughout the month, a fun movie night organized by the Christian Education team, and a hymn sing guided by our favorite music leaders. Throughout July, additionally, schools from both counties of the Eastern Shore have received their school supplies. The children will not run out of essential supplies during the school year, thanks to the generous donations of the people to the Eastern Shore Presbyterian Ministries, a collaboration between churches that oversees this massive effort. A huge thanks to Jennifer Stapleton and all the volunteers who have worked on the project this year.
I personally celebrate the gift of health, by God’s infinite grace, which I have often taken for granted. Illness has a way to humble us, to bring us back to the basics, and to enliven our appreciation for all things. I am grateful to have quietly watched this month go by, with a brain full of ideas for the year to come while the body is regaining strength.
I have observed our beautiful church people come together to continue praising God on Sundays during the month, and I get to watch from afar the dedication and the deep care for God and for one another that our members have.
As we turn to Vacation Bible School next month, there is much to look forward to, and I also look forward to being back in the pulpit and resuming my normal activities – although the life of a pastor is anything but normal!
Soak in the summer and have fun!
Peace,
Pastor Geneviève
