The August Light
Dear Friends,
I have always loved the August light. It has a special glow in the morning, it seems to announce that the summer is slowly winding down, that it’s time to resume the routines that get us through another year.
The summer has gone by so quickly, it seems. Families are getting ready again for the school year and catching the last opportunities to get away before the weather begins cooling down.
Speaking of cool weather, Vacation Bible School was a blast of fresh air! Our theme was “Snowball Mountain Challenge,” and every day, the children would learn a different Bible lesson and tie it together with facing challenges in our life today. What a time we had with over twenty terrific children!
It was impressive to see how many adults from our church participated this year – as many adults as we had children! Decorations, snacks, skits, music, art, and so much more! VBS is a huge undertaking, and it could not be done without the many volunteers we had, and for that, we are grateful!
It is also very special to collaborate with two other churches, Holy Trinity Episcopal and Market Street Methodist churches. The sense of community between our churches was great, and we loved making new friends.
Children are such a blessing, and what a joy it was to be energized by their presence for five rich days of learning and sharing.
I hope you are all soaking in the last days of summer by enjoying God’s beautiful Creation!
Peace,
Pastor Geneviève
