The Dove Has Landed

Dear Friends,

We are ready to kick off a new season with so many great things happening.

First, a new website, as you can tell if you are reading this page.  How great to share information with you on this platform, completely revamped to be current and engaging both for visitors and members.  We are grateful for the Presbytery of Eastern Virginia for a generous grant that has allowed us to work with a terrific web designer, Christen Kinard, so that you could find us in this refreshed format.

You will also notice our new logo.  Like good Presbyterians, we had a committee of church members that studied our geographical context, our values, the windows of our church, and shared our preferences.  Many logo options were presented, and we narrowed it down to a couple, and finally all decided on the dove, a symbol of peace that we find as well in one of our windows.  The colors also come from the stained glass windows, and there is a hint at the Trinity in the design of the bird.  The result? A symbolic reminder that the church is always active and moving, and peaceful place of worship that celebrates the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

A logo is more than just branding – it is our identity in the community.  As we continue to always expand our presence in our town, people will come to recognize who we are simply by seeing the dove.  We hope you will be excited to share our logo with your friends!

Our big rally will be on September 13 this year.  We will pray for our teachers and children as they resume Sunday School, for the choir as they return to their regular season.  We will also adopt a theme for the whole year, which will inform our worship services and our focus.  The theme is:

Plentiful – Discovering the Abundant Life.

There is so much to be grateful for, and I look forward to living in gratitude in the months to come!

Peace,

Pastor Geneviève
